Trampoline Park and Playground Injuries with Attorney Chris Burk.

Attorney Chris Burk of The Patriot Law Firm discusses trampoline park and playground injuries and what parents can do to avoid them. Click the video below to watch the interview.

Rocky:
Most kids love trampoline parks and indoor playgrounds but they’re also a risk. Christopher Burk with the Patriot Law Firm is here to discuss the issue of the lack of supervision and safety when it comes to playtime at these facilities. Hey, are these places actually safe?

Chris:
Well, there’s a lot of concerns from quite a few Valley parents and lawyers regarding the safety of these places.

Rocky:
Right, and how many, or what kind of injuries are you noticing?

Chris:
Injuries that we are noticing in these parks from kids is broken femurs, broken lower legs, broken necks. You know it’s very concerning about which types of injuries happen to the children in the valley.

Rocky:
Yeah, and how many injuries have been reported?

Chris:
Well, there was a study by the American Academy of Pediatrics that said that in one year there were 6,900 emergency room injuries.

Rocky:
Just from indoor trampolines or playgrounds?

Chris:
Correct.

Rocky:
Wow, and are there any local lawsuits that you know of, or that you’ve seen yourself?

Chris:
I personally know of three law firms in the valley right now handling claims and lawsuits against Parks like these.

Rocky:
Wow, and what are people suing for?

Chris:
Well, they’re suing for their children’s medical bills, pain and suffering. You know, a lot of times parents go into these places with an idea that these places are completely safe and that’s turning out not to be the case.

Rocky:
Exactly. When anyone walks in, even myself, we have to sign a safety waiver. But are those actually effective?

Chris:
Well, the waivers can be effective but they also can’t be effective in certain situations. For example, the waiver can’t waive the negligence of the facility. The waiver can’t say that “Hey you know what? I’m not responsible if the employees don’t repair, maintain, clean the trampolines in the system’s” there. It’s one of those things where parents have this idea of, “hey, I’m going to take my kid to what better be a safe place”. I think that’s a reasonable expectation.

Rocky:
Exactly. Ok, well thank you for that information. Let’s call the Patriot Law Firm for more at 702-620-2020 or visit their website at FightForTheLittleGuy.com
