Rocky:
Lately, there’s been an uptick of fights at Children’s sporting events and games. Christopher Burke of the Patriot Law Firm is here to tell us more about this growing issue and the consequences that may make parents want to tone it down in the stands right?

Chris:
Yes, Rocky, I’m sure you’ve noticed we’ve all seen on YouTube on social media there seems to be this growing violence at sporting events right? With grandparents, crazy parents involving other parents, with referees, coaches, sports officials. It’s really just kind of disarming you know?

Rocky:
What is going on? I know the kids are supposed to be battling it out on the field or the court but why are the parents getting so…

Chris:
Well I mean I think we kind of expect the adults to be adults, but that’s not what’s going on here. Some people get so vested in, I guess the success or failure of their child that they really get deeply emotional and tied to these games and they just let their emotions out. And many times it is not for the best.

Rocky:
It’s not. It can get wild in the stands.

Chris:
Absolutely. We’ve seen those videos where there’s literally people screaming at each other and in worse situations people getting into physical altercations.

Rocky:
Absolutely! So what are the consequences? What do our viewers need to know about this?

Chris:
Well, there are quite a few consequences. On the criminal side you’re looking at someone could get arrested for potentially, a felony or a misdemeanor depending on the severity of the injury, severity of the assault. I mean even in Nevada since 2010 we have a law on the books NRS 200.471 that protects sporting officials like referees and coaches from these crazy parents. And on the civil side, hey, you could end up on the wrong side of a lawsuit, right? You’re looking at medical bills, pain and suffering, thousands of dollars if you attack someone else, and hurt someone else seriously.

Rocky:
Wow, all for a kids game. Okay, call the Patriot Law Firm at 702-620-2020 or visit their website at FightForTheLittleGuy.com
